Competitive Edge

Mold Employees into leaders – A three year letter & leadership training.

How much is an educated staff worth ?

According to – training  is the act, process, or method of one that trains and the skill, knowledge, or experience acquired by one that trains But, training in its simplest form is a type of motivation and it helps to define who you are.

I remember my grandparents saying, “you can lead a horse to water but, you cannot make it drink”. Universities, community colleges, and manufacturing training programs can provide a endless amount of technical and non-technical information. But, they cannot teach the desire to learn. They can present the ‘water’ to you but you must drink.

I  have always believed education was, extremely, important. I thought having a single degree would be a great achievement but I was not confident that it would give me a secure future. So I chose at academic path that led to multiple technical degrees. I believe this greater academic diversity would provide a successful future. After college I ‘stumbled’ into the audiovisual industry and I have continued this multi education path.

I have strive to achieve some of the highest level of programming certifications from AMX and Crestron.

I believe the next three years audiovisual programming will move into mainstream software development. Most large (custom) audiovisual jobs will be written in Java, C#, or Python. This transition in audiovisual programming will deliver some great advantages. For example multi thread audiovisual programming, cloud base AI control and services.

Audiovisual – Moving to the cloud

A three year goal of mine is to position myself to take advantage of this new generation of control programming.

To increase knowledge and skill in: audio setup/DSP, project management, advanced programming, and social media marketing. Those goals will provide a diverse level of education. Hopefully, this will ensure a bright future.

Programming is a life-long learning experience.

Experienced software engineers seek to find solutions to problems they haven’t solved yet because it gives them the opportunity to learn more. If you find yourself waiting for the moment when you finally feel like you know everything there is to know about coding, know this: the day you’re waiting for will never come.

And that is a wonderful thing.

Great discussion about Crestron new NVX Digital Media Series switcher.

Just because you disagree with someone does not mean it is unprofessional. Their should be more open and professional discussions just like this on Linkedin. Because without those types of conversations we will not know what is real or just marketing.

The NVX Series does look like Crestron is moving Digital Media in the right direction. But I believe it is to late for DM to re-engineer all the legacy devices.

I don’t work for Crestron or AMX /Harman and I am not part of their marketing team – I am neutral –  I can honestly say – SVSI is the future.

Bob, I give you credit for speaking about what you believe in. Your comments was completely professional.

Some manufacturing companies prefers punishment and restrictions over professional discussions they do not like. Hopefully, Harman recognizes the importance of individual freedom of speech.

And, Crestron is claiming “no latency.”

Screen Shot 2015-08-05 at 4.04.26 PM

I will agree with Crestron that Mercury looks like a great addition to conference systems. Crestron’s marketing team did come up with an amazing name for an audiovisual product – Mercury.

But if you like marketing biz then the following is for you:

Breaking news : Crestron “zero latency” NVX Series as just broken Ohm’s Law, Power Equation and is able to speed up electrons.

MacBook Pro – ‘Hello Again’

New MacBook Pro has already outsold all competing laptops (in revenue) this year and it only took five days. Is the new Mac Book Pro the end of traditional laptops – Yes!

How Can This Be True – AMX/Crestron?

Hello, Everyone

I’ve been trying to figure out how many individuals are currently certified as an AMX Solutions Master and a Gold Crestron Certified Programmer as well.

Based on what AMX management told me regarding my AMX certifications, I currently hold more AMX certifications than anyone else.

Not even AMX direct employees have been to as many AMX training classes as I have.

I am extremely honored and humbled….Can This Be True?

So I am wondering how many individuals in the Audio/Video industry have all of their AMX certifications ( including AMX Solutions Master ) and a Crestron Gold programming certification too.

I have asked Crestron and AMX and they are not aware of any other individuals – besides myself.

I find this somewhat hard to believe so I’m asking around on social media.   Any thoughts

All Certifications Are Up-To-Date

[Update – 3/25/16]

[Breaking News] AMX & Crestron Audio/Video history has been made!

WOW – This is amazing!

Based on my feedback so far, no one else is completely AMX certified (that has completed all of AMX courses/certification) and a Crestron Gold (or higher) Certified Programer too.

Congrats Michael. Difficult thing to do when the C and A guys make it so difficult these days, and costly…..

Thank you, Joel for the feedback. I am extremely grateful and it is a lot of hard work — working & training. I believe some of it is cultural – what a person got used to when they got into the A/V industry. So besides the technical / programming aspects of it, the cultural side makes it even more difficult to achieve both levels of certifications.

Congrats!!  I hold a few certifications from both companies and know the time and effort it takes to get them.  That is an awesome achievement

Darren Yeager, Crestron Gold Master Programmer

Looking at the low number of Gold certified people this wouldn’t surprise me.

Thank you, everyone for the congratulations.

Darren, you have a good point. I was the 47th Crestron Gold certified programmer in September, 2015. The number of Crestron Gold Master Programmers are probably somewhere around 50. So I can see out of 50 people how I can be the only fully AMX certified person. This is a great honor to be the only Crestron Gold Certified Programmer and completely AMX certified as well.
